Rocky, an adult male bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus), first stranded on a sandy beach but unknowing individuals pushed him back. He then restranded on rocks, causing additional injury and stress. It is important for the public to remember to NEVER push a stranded animal back to sea and instead call the stranding network at 1-800-9-MAMMAL. Unfortunately, Rocky died the following day after his rescue. He had swallowed a fish hook that had rotted out his throat.
